Zelensky on GUR raising flag in Crimea: too early to talk about liberation
President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine confirmed the defense intelligence group suffered no losses during the special operation to land in the temporarily occupied Crimea, while emphasizing that it is too early to talk about the liberation of the peninsula.
He noted this during a joint press conference with the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“It is too early to talk about the liberation of Crimea. Second, I will have a detailed report from General Budanov. The third - yes, these are our guys. Fourth, there are no casualties on our side, which is good news. At least, this is what I could discuss over the phone with the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate,” Zelensky told journalists.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, GUR units ran a daring landing operation in temporarily occupied Crimea with the support of Ukraine’s Navy.
In a brazen stunt conducted on Ukraine’s Independence Day, a small group landed on the Black Sea shore in the area of Olenivka and Mayak settlements and engaged in a firefight with the invaders, incurring losses on enemy forces.
