Russian troops regrouping in Kupiansk, Lyman directions after significant losses – Syrskyi

Having suffered significant losses, Russian troops are now regrouping in the Kupiansk and Lyman directions, as well as redeploying the newly formed brigades and divisions from Russia.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry on Telegram, referring to Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The operational situation in the Eastern direction is remaining tense. After a month of fierce battles and suffering significant losses in the Kupiansk and Lyman directions, the enemy is now regrouping its forces and means while also transferring the newly formed brigades and divisions from the territory of Russia,” Syrskyi noted.

In his words, Russia’s key objective is to increase the level of combat potential and resume active offensive actions.

At the same time, enemy units continue to inflict damage with artillery, mortars and aircraft.

“Under such conditions, we must promptly take all measures to strengthen our defenses on the threatened lines and advance where possible. In order to implement these tasks, my regular working trip to the Kupiansk and Lyman directions was scheduled,” Syrskyi stressed.

According to Syrskyi, in cooperation with the commanders of operational and tactical groups and brigades, all necessary decisions were made and measures taken to strengthen the defense and repel enemy attacks.
