Russians attack Kupiansk district with mortars, artillery

On August 26, 2023, Russian troops were shelling the Kharkiv region’s Kupiansk district with mortars and artillery.

The relevant statement was made by Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Syniehubov on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

Such settlements as Rublene, Ambarne, Bolohivka, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Ivanivka, and others came under enemy fire.

In the Kurylivka community’s village of Podoly, one of Russian projectiles, fired from the 2S7 Pion self-propelled artillery system, hit a café. A woman, 28, and a man, 70, were killed. Another woman, 26, was injured and taken to hospital in grave condition.

Demining efforts are underway in the Kharkiv region. Over the past day, the explosives experts of the Ukrainian State Emergency Service have inspected more than 5.7 hectares and neutralized 107 dangerous objects.
