Army spox: Russians retreating as their defense lines breached in Zaporizhzhia sector

Russian invaders are retreating as Ukrainian forces have breached their defense line in the Zaporizhzhia region.

The relevant statement was made by Head of the Joint Coordinating Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces Natalia Humeniuk during a nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Now, as our troops are directly advancing, the enemy no longer has a chance to consolidate the defense that had been breached, so after a while it gains a breakthrough status,” Humeniuk told.

In her words, the advance of Ukrainian forces is obvious geographically and shows the enemy troops retreating.

According to Humeniuk, each settlement de-occupied by the Defense Forces is important to Ukraine.

“The very advance of [Ukraine’s] Defense Forces is also very powerful psychological pressure on the enemy, which is also a weapon in the conditions of a hybrid war,” Humeniuk added.

Humeniuk mentioned that each liberated settlement allows Ukrainian defenders to gain a foothold and build additional defense lines, so that they can stand more firmly there and further target the enemy’s defenses.

A reminder that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed earlier that Ukrainian warriors had achieved success in the Novodanylivka-Verbove sector.
