Defense forces continue offensive, gain foothold in Melitopol direction

During the day, more than 35 combat engagements took place at the front, and the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to conduct the offensive operation in Melitopol direction.

This is stated in the report by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 18:00 on Wednesday, August 30, published on Facebook.

"During the day, the enemy launched 30 missile strikes, 52 airstrikes, and 35 MLRS attacks on the positions of our troops and populated settlements. As a result of the Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, civilians were killed and injured. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure objects were ruined," the report reads.

Thirty-five combat engagements took place during the day.

In Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly.

In Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna directions, the enemy launched airstrikes in the areas of Volfyne in Sumy region; Potykhonove in Kharkiv region. Mortar and artillery attacks were launched on more than 20 settlements, in particular, Karpovychi, Semenivka in Chernihiv region; Mefodivka, Seredyna-Buda, Vorozhba, Kostiantynivka, Volodymyrivka in Sumy region; Hraniv, Pletenivka, Balka, Odradne, Lyman Druhy in Kharkiv region.

In Kupyansk direction, the enemy launched an airstrike in the area of Kyslivka in Kharkiv region. The settlements of Masiutivka, Synkivka, Kucherivka, Kyslivka, Berestove in Kharkiv region came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In Lyman direction, the Russians conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the areas of Novoyehorivka and Bilohorivka. Airstrikes were launched in the areas of Nadiya, Tverdokhlibove, Novoehorivka, Bilohorivka in Luhansk region; Serebrianka, Spirne in Donetsk region. The settlements of Kreminna in Luhansk region; Kuzmyne, Torske, Lyman in Donetsk region came under artillery and mortar fire.

In Bakhmut direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive operations in the area of Kurdiumivka in Donetsk region. Airstrikes were launched near Klishchiyivka and Andriyivka in Donetsk region. More than 20 settlements, including Lypivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Toretsk, Zalizne in Donetsk region, came under enemy artillery fire.

In Avdiyivka direction, the enemy fired artillery and mortars on Oleksandropil, Stepove, Tonenke, Sieverne, Karlivka in Donetsk region.

In Maryinka direction, the defense forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the area of Maryinka in Donetsk region. The settlements of Zhelanne Pershe, Hostre, Antonivka, Yelyzavetivka, and Vodiane in Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

In Shakhtarske direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled Russian attacks in the area of Staromayorske in Donetsk region. The enemy launched airstrikes in the areas of Vuhledar and Zolota Nyva in Donetsk region. Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Neskuchne, Rivnopil, and Zelene Pole in Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

In Zaporizhzhia direction, the Russians conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in Mala Tokmachka area in Zaporizhzhia region. Airstrikes were launched near Novodarivka, Verbove, Mala Tokmachka, and Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia region. More than 20 settlements, including Novodarivka, Poltavka, Huliaypole, Luhivske, Novoandriyivka, Pyatykhatky in Zaporizhzhia region, came under enemy artillery fire.

In Kherson direction, more than 20 settlements were hit with enemy artillery, in particular, Osokorivka, Kachkarivka, Kozatske, Olhivka, Kherson, Sofiyivka in Kherson region.

At the same time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to carry out the offensive operation in Melitopol direction, gain a foothold on the achieved boundaries, and carry out counter-battery fight.

During the day, the aviation of the defense forces launched 10 strikes on enemy personnel concentration areas and four strikes on anti-aircraft missile systems.

Missile and artillery units hit a personnel, weapons and military equipment cluster, a command post, and an EW station.
