U.S. doctors conduct training in Lviv on emergency care for war victims
The American Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) has started training doctors and nurses from all over Ukraine in Lviv on new approaches to the management and treatment of patients in critical condition with war injuries.
This was reported by the Lviv City Council, according to Ukrinform.
"Today, we have one of the world's most powerful teams of instructors dealing with critical conditions. Among them are doctors with extensive experience in hot spots: Iraq, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan. And today they have brought a course in practical medicine to help patients with war trauma to us, to Ukraine, because this is the knowledge and skills we need now," said Oleh Samchuk, CEO of the First Medical Association of Lviv.
It is noted that this is the first such training course in Ukraine. The training is aimed at expert training of specialists of multidisciplinary hospitals and combat medics to provide emergency care to civilians and military personnel affected by the war.
The American instructors will teach rapid diagnosis and emergency medical care for patients with shrapnel and burn injuries, bleeding, acute vital organ dysfunction and polytrauma. For this purpose, six stations with simulated patients and different types of combined injuries were specially equipped in the Lviv hospital.
It is planned to train 400 Ukrainian doctors.
As reported, in early August, Czech specialists in reconstructive and plastic surgery operated on patients affected by the war for a week at the National Rehabilitation Center 'Nezlamni'.
