Ukraine continuing to work to help its citizens in Middle East - president
More than 200 Ukrainians have already been evacuated from Israel and new flights are being prepared. Ukrainian diplomats, intelligence, and security forces continue to work to help Ukrainian citizens stranded in the Middle East.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in his nightly video address, Ukrinform reports.
"The evacuation of Ukrainians from Israel continues: more than 200 people have already been taken to Romania, mostly women and children. New flights are being prepared. We know about almost 260 Ukrainians who are currently in the Gaza Strip," Zelensky said.
He noted that exit from this territory is currently blocked for citizens of all countries, but Ukrainian diplomats, intelligence, and security forces continue to work to help Ukrainians stranded in the Middle East.
"Ukrainian diplomats are ready to help every citizen who needs it. Therefore, I once again appeal to all Ukrainians who may be abroad and need help: please contact our diplomatic missions abroad at any time and in any way," Zelensky said.
According to Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Yevgen Korniychuk, 208 Ukrainians have already been evacuated from Israel.
