War update: Defense Forces repel Russian attacks in six sectors
In the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s Defense Forces have repelled over 40 Russian attacks in six directions. The Ukrainian military continue conducting the offensive in eastern and southern Ukraine.
The relevant statement was made by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
Fifty-four combat engagements have occurred on the front over the past day. The operational situation is remaining challenging in eastern and southern Ukraine.
Ukrainian forces continue conducting the offensive operation in the Melitopol direction and offensive (assault) actions in the Bakhmut direction, inflicting personnel and equipment losses on Russian occupation troops and exhausting the enemy all over the front line.
Over the past day, Ukraine’s Air Force has launched 16 strikes on enemy targets: three strikes on surface-to-air missile systems, and the rest of strikes on Russian personnel, ammunition and military equipment clusters.
Ukrainian missile units hit 12 enemy artillery systems and one logistics hub.
Meanwhile, Russian troops launched five missile strikes and 33 air strikes, and opened fire with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) 42 times on Ukrainian positions and settlements.
Following Russian terrorist attacks, casualties among civilians were reported, as well as the damage caused residential houses and other civil infrastructure.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation remained rather unchanged. No signs of enemy offensive groupings were detected. Separate Belarusian units are carrying out tasks within the areas bordering with Ukraine.
In the Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi directions, Russians are maintaining military presence within the border areas and continue shelling border settlements from Russia’s territory. Over 20 settlements were affected by Russian artillery and mortar strikes, namely in the Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Sumy regions.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russians conducted unsuccessful offensive actions with the support of aircraft near the Kharkiv region’s Synkivka and Ivanivka. Ukrainian forces repelled eight enemy attacks there. Russian invaders launched an air strike near Pishchane. About 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery and mortar strikes.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled all Russian attacks near the Luhansk region’s Nadiia and Makiivka. The enemy launched air strikes near the Luhansk region’s Serebrianske forestry, Nevske; the Donetsk region’s Siversk and Vyimka. About 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery and mortar strikes.
In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian forces repelled five Russian attacks near the Donetsk region’s Klishchiivka, Bohdanivka and Andriivka. The enemy launched an air strike near Dyliivka. Over 10 settlements were affected by Russian artillery and mortar strikes.
In the Avdiivka direction, Russians conducted unsuccessful assault actions with the support of aircraft near the Donetsk region’s Stepove, Avdiivka, Sieverne and Nevelske. Six Russian attacks were repelled there. Over 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery and mortar strikes.
In the Marinka direction, Russian occupiers conducted unsuccessful assault actions near the Donetsk region’s Marinka and Pobieda. Ukrainian forces successfully repelled about 20 enemy attacks. About 10 settlements were affected by Russian artillery and mortar strikes.
In the Shakhtarske direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled all enemy attacks near the Donetsk region’s Novomykhailivka and Prechystivka, and to the south of Zolota Nyva. Russian troops conducted unsuccessful assault actions near Staromaiorske. About 10 settlements were affected by enemy artillery and mortar strikes.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian forces repelled an enemy attack to the southeast of the Zaporizhzhia region’s Mala Tokmachka. Over 20 settlements were affected by Russian artillery and mortar strikes.
In the Kherson direction, Russian occupiers launched air strikes near the Kherson region’s Zmiivka, Beryslav, Kozatske and Mykilske. Russian artillery and mortar strikes affected Zelenivka.
