On Monday, together with Dutch Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren, Romanian National Defence Minister Angel Tîlvăr is opening the European F-16 Training Center at the Feteşti Air Base, where Ukrainian pilots will be trained.
The relevant statement was made by DW, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
The training course is expected to last six months. The training center is located 150 kilometers east of Bucharest.
Lockheed, a company manufacturing the F-16 fighter aircraft, provided instructors and technical personnel to conduct training.
A reminder that, on November 7, 2023, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude to the Netherlands and Prime Minister Mark Rutte for their support of Ukraine, namely the transfer of five F-16 fighter aircraft that had already arrived in Romania.
