Enemy stands no chance: Mayor comments on Bild’s article about Russia’s plan to seize Kharkiv in 2026
Ukrainian authorities and the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not allow the aggressor state to seize the city of Kharkiv.
The relevant statement was made by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov on Facebook, commenting on the recent article published by Germany’s Bild about Russia’s plan to capture the city of Kharkiv by late 2026, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“No one will ever surrender Kharkiv! The enemy stands no chance of succeeding in its plans. It became clear back in 2014 and was eventually confirmed in 2022. The state, local authorities, Ukraine’s Armed Forces, volunteers – together we are doing and will continue to do everything possible to protect our city and our people,” Terekhov wrote.
A reminder that Germany’s Bild released an article which, referring to anonymous sources and intelligence, claims that Russia is planning to fully seize Donetsk and Luhansk regions, up to the Oskil River in the Kharkiv region, by late 2024, as well as significant parts of the Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions in 2025-2026.
