Ukraine unaware of possible delay in F-16 supply from Denmark
Ukraine’s Air Force has no information that Denmark is set to postpone the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.
That’s according to Yuriy Ihnat, the spokesman for the Air Force Command, who spoke at the national telethon, Ukrinform reports with reference to Radio Liberty.
"Let's look at the Danish Ministry of Defense – at least I didn't see any statements... The Berlingske publication refers to some sources. The piece is immediately picked up and becomes mainstream in our media. Everyone understands how sensitive the F-16 issue is for us," he said.
Ihnat noted that Ukrainian pilots are learning to fly F-16s "at an extremely high pace."
"No other state did it this way. You know, there are many countries waiting in line for F-16s, and not only for the warplanes as such but also for the instructors who would be able to retrain pilots used to older Soviet aircraft or other models to fly this plane," the spokesman concluded.
Earlier, foreign media reported that Denmark initially intended to hand over the first batch of six F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine by 2024, but instead the planes will be delivered "somewhere in the second quarter."
