Ukraine’s air defense forces down 21 of 28 Shahed drones overnight Sunday
In the early hours of Sunday, January 7, Russian invaders launched 28 Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones at Ukraine from the Primorsko-Akhtarsk region and three S-300 surface-to-air missiles from the occupied part of Donetsk region, most targeting southern and eastern parts of Ukraine.
This is reported by Ukrinform with reference to the Air Force.
"Twenty-one enemy UAVs were destroyed by Ukraine’s Air Force," the statement reads.
Air defense units and mobile fire groups were involved in repelling the drone strikes.
Air defenses were activated in Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, and Cherkasy regions.
As reported earlier, an air raid alert went off in a number of regions of Ukraine due to the threat of ballistic and drones strikes.
