Lyman-Kupiansk axis: over 7K invaders killed or wounded since year-start
While the Russian invasion forces pursue their offensive efforts in the Lyman-Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian defenders have killed or wounded in action 7,055 Russian soldiers and officers, and destroyed 120 tanks and 218 armored fighting vehicles in the area since January 1.
That’s according to Volodymyr Fitio, the spokesman for the Ground Forces Command, who spoke on the air of the national telethon, Ukrinform reports.
The enemy has not abandoned its offensive efforts along the line stretching from Kupiansk to the village of New York, the spokesman said, adding that the Russians pull in reserves despite significant losses incurred.
“Since the beginning of this month, as of January 20, Ukraine’s forces have destroyed 120 enemy tanks, 218 armored fighting vehicles, and 178 artillery systems and mortars of various calibers. Also, a total of 7,055 Ruscists were either killed or wounded in action," Fitio reported.
He added that the enemy pursues the attempts to advance in the Kupiansk, Lyman, and Bakhmut directions.
As Ukrainian defenders repel enemy assaults, the shape of the frontline remains dynamic, Fitio said in the context of urging Ukrainians not to believe enemy propaganda that reports successes of the invasion forces. At the same time, the spokesperson noted that the Ukrainian military takes up the most advantageous positions to preserve soldiers’ lives.
