Ukrainian hackers destroy IT infrastructure of company that worked for Russia's defense industry
Cybersecurity specialists with the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (HUR) have conducted another successful cyberattack in Russia, destroying the entire IT infrastructure of IPL Consulting, a company that implemented information systems in the Russian industry.
The Ukrainian intelligence agency announced this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
"The said company presented itself as one of the most modern Russian enterprises, which provided assistance in the implementation of information systems to institutions engaged in the designing and production of automotive and aviation components, heavy engineering, as well as the production of equipment and devices, including in the interests of the Russian defense industrial base," the post reads.
Ukrainian intelligence said the devastating attack against IPL Consulting had been carried out by HUR specialists who penetrated the company's internal network and destroyed its entire IT infrastructure of more than 60 terabytes, as well as dozens of servers and databases.
The cost of the digital array of data lost by Russia is being calculated.
"Amid the ongoing sanctions pressure against Russia, the damage inflicted on the enemy is extremely painful. In addition, this affects dozens of Russian companies that work for the defense sector of the aggressor state," HUR said.
Earlier reports said that on December 31, 2023, Ukrainian hackers stopped the operation of payment terminals in Russia.
