Ukraine initiates joint defense industry forum with Baltic States
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov met with Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, during which he proposed to hold a joint forum of the defense industries of Ukraine and the Baltic states.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this on its Facebook page, Ukrinform reported.
"Representatives of governments, the military industry, and investors will be invited to participate in the forum, and we need to convince them that these are good investments that will have a high level of capitalization," Umerov said.
The Defense Minister briefed Landsbergis on the current situation at the frontline and expressed gratitude to the government and people of Lithuania for their "unwavering support of Ukraine," in particular for their leadership in the demining coalition.
Landsbergis expressed Lithuania's interest in studying Ukraine's military experience in repelling Russian aggression, as well as in deepening cooperation in the field of advanced military technologies.
"We appreciate the fact that in a state of war, you find opportunities to share your experience with us and offer your assistance to Lithuania. We will continue to train your soldiers, but we, in turn, need to train our generals," the Foreign Minister said.
As reported, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis arrived in Kyiv on Thursday, January 25. As part of his visit, the minister visited, in particular, the Kharkiv region, where a shelter will be built at the expense of Lithuania.
On January 27, Landsbergis held talks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. The key topic was the identification of joint steps to increase the production of drones for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
