Kostin: 90% of Ukrainian POWs subjected to physical and moral torture

Ninety percent of Ukrainian prisoners of war are subjected to physical and moral torture, as evidenced by the screening of those who returned from Russian captivity.

Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin said this during a workshop for journalists on international law and armed conflicts, Ukrinform reports.

"The first so-called screening -- an informal conversation with prisoners of war who are now returning -- shows that up to 90% of our people suffer from various types of torture, inhumane treatment, including physical, sexual and mental violence," he said.

Kostin said that Russia had created a system built on torture and inhumane treatment on Russian soil and in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.
