DIU: Russia's most advanced Su-57 fighter jet is hit for first time

A Russian Su-57 multi-role fighter jet was hit at the Akhtubinsk airfield in Astrakhan region.

This was reported by the press service of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU), Ukrinform reports.

"On 8 June 2024, a Su-57 multi-purpose fighter jet of the aggressor state was hit on the territory of the Akhtubinsk airfield in the Astrakhan region of the Russian Federation, 589 kilometres from the line of contact," the statement said.

It is noted that this is evidenced by satellite images of the aircraft's parking at the enemy airfield. The images show that on 7 June, the Su-57 was intact, but on 8 June, craters from the explosion and characteristic fire spots appeared near it as a result of a fire damage.

The Su-57 is Moscow's most advanced fighter jet, capable of using X-59 and X-69 missiles for strikes. The Russian Aerospace Forces have only a handful of these combat aircraft in service.

"The defeat of the Su-57 is the first such case in history," the intelligence officers stressed.

As reported, as a result of the DIU's operation in Crimea, four Tunets boats were hit - two of them were destroyed.
