Umerov, Austin discuss Ukraine's defense needs at Ramstein meeting
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin have discussed in detail the planning of Ukraine's defense needs on the sidelines of a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.
Umerov announced this on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
Both ministers paid special attention to mobilization and the equipping of Ukrainian combat brigades.
Umerov recalled that a bilateral security agreement between Ukraine and the United States was to be signed at the G7 summit this week.
"This is a significant step on the way to a just peace for Ukraine. We are sincerely grateful to our American partners for their unwavering support," he said.
The 23rd meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format is taking place in Brussels on Thursday.
