Ukrainian air defense intercepts 5 missiles, 27 drones overnight

The enemy attacked Ukraine with air- and ground-launched missiles and Shahed one-way strike drones on the night of June 19 to 20.

Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk announced this on the Telegram messaging app, Ukrinform reports.

According to him, the enemy used 9 missiles and 27 strike drones:

  • 4 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles launched from Tu-95 MS strategic bombers (launch area – airspace over the Caspian Sea);
  • 3 Iskander-M ballistic missiles launched from Russia's Voronezh region;
  • 2 Kh-59 guided air missiles launched from airspace over the Sea of Azov;
  • 27 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs launched from Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Russia.

Oleshchuk said that critical infrastructure facilities had been targeted. The main direction of the attack was eastern Ukraine, particularly the Dnipropetrovsk region.

"The enemy's aerial attack was repelled by fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units and EW units of the Air Force and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces," he said.

According to Oleschuk, Ukrainian air defenders destroyed 32 missiles and drones:

  • 4 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles;
  • 1 Kh-59 guided air missile;
  • 27 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs.

Ukraine's air defense forces worked in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Poltava and Vinnytsia regions.
