Estonian volunteer soldier killed in action in Ukraine

Estonian volunteer soldier Martin Jääger was killed in action fighting for Ukraine. He is the third Estonian known to have fallen in the war in Ukraine.  

That’s according to ERR, Ukrinform reports.

Jääger died on Saturday, June 22, in a battle near Raihorodoka village on the border of Kharkiv and Luhansk regions in the Kupiansk-Svatove sector.

He was a member of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian army, which is currently engaged in fierce defensive battles east of Borova village. He served in various units in Ukraine and joined the 3rd Assault Brigade a month ago.

Jääger served in the elite Scouts Battalion of the Estonian Defense Forces for more than 10 years.

As reported by Ukrinform, in March 2023 it became known about the death of former Estonian Defense Forces officer Ivo Jurak, who was killed in action near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region.

In September 2023, Estonian volunteer Tanel Kriggul was killed in a Russian drone attack near Lyman town in the Donetsk region.
