Zelensky replaces Joint Forces Commander Sodol
President Volodymyr Zelensky has decided to replace the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Yuriy Sodol, with Brigadier General Andriy Hnatov.
The president said this in his video address, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The Commander-in-Chief, the Chief of the General Staff, and the Minister of Defense were present. We discussed the situation in key areas, with the main focus currently on the Donetsk region and supplying our forces with everything they need,” Zelensky said.
They also discussed personnel issues within the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Zelensky noted.
“I decided to replace the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Yuriy Sodol, with Brigadier General Andriy Hnatov,” Zelensky said.
As reported by Ukrinform, the State Bureau of Investigation confirmed the receipt of a letter from Bohdan Krotevych, the chief of staff of the Azov National Guard Brigade, regarding the need to investigate the actions of one of the Armed Forces generals due to the significant losses sustained by Ukrainian troops on the battlefield.
The SBI noted that investigators are currently examining the circumstances outlined in the letter. The Bureau representatives did not disclose the name of the general in question.
Earlier, some media outlets reported that it was the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Yuriy Sodol.
