Zelensky approves NSDC decision to create Unmanned Systems Forces
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree approving the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to create the Unmanned Systems Forces within the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to Ukrinform, the corresponding decree, No.382/2024, was published on the website of the head of state.
The President, in accordance with Article 107 of the Constitution of Ukraine, decided to enact the NSDC decision of June 25 "On the establishment of the Unmanned Systems Forces as a separate type of force within the Armed Forces of Ukraine."
The NSDC has been tasked with overseeing the implementation of the decision.
The decree comes into force on the day of its publication.
The NSDC decision supported the proposal submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers to create the Unmanned Systems Forces as a separate type of military within the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The government was instructed with submitting relevant proposals for the creation of the Unmanned Systems Forces to the Verkhovna Rada within one month in line with the established procedure.
As reported by Ukrinform, on February 6, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree providing for the creation of the Unmanned Systems Forces as a separate branch of the Armed Forces.
The unmanned systems forces were created on May 7. The Cabinet of Ministers supported the draft presidential decree on the creation of this type of force.
On June 10, Colonel Vadym Sukharevskyi was appointed as commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
