Ukraine is to receive half million shells by end of year under Czech initiative

As part of the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine, about 500,000 artillery shells have already been paid for and are to be delivered by the end of the year.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic, Ukrinform reports.

"Within the framework of the Czech ammunition initiative, approximately half a million artillery rounds have been purchased for Ukraine, which are to be delivered by the end of 2024," the statement said.

The government has recently unanimously approved the allocation of CZK 865,775,000 (over USD 3.7 million) by the Czech Republic for the initiative. The money will be spent on the purchase of ammunition from a Czech supplier, STV GROUP, Prime Minister Petr Fiala said.

As reported, 18 countries have already joined the Czech initiative. The first batch of ammunition under the initiative in the amount of 180,000 units is already in Ukraine. This is 155 mm ammunition, the purchase of which was funded by Germany.
