U.S. ambassador responds to Russian missile attack on Ukraine

At the summit in Washington this week, the leaders of the NATO member countries will make significant security commitments to Ukraine.

U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink wrote this on the social media site X, commenting on today's Russian missile attack against cities across Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

"As leaders gather for NATOєs 75th anniversary, Russia launched 40 missiles across Ukraine. This callous aggression - a total disregard for human life, jeopardizing European & Transatlantic security - is why leaders will make significant security commitments to Ukraine this week," she said.

Russia launched a massive missile attack on Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Sloviansk and Kramatorsk on July 8. More than 40 missiles of various types were used.

Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said that at least 20 people had been killed in the Russian missile attack on Ukraine.

According to preliminary reports, eight people were killed and 15 injured in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.
