Stefanchuk hopes Spain will transfer Patriot system to Ukraine
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk hopes that Spain will positively resolve the issue of transferring a Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.
He said this in a post on Facebook following a meeting with President of the Spanish Congress of Deputies Francina Armengol, Ukrinform reports.
"It is important to provide Ukraine with additional air defense systems. I expect that Spain will positively consider the issue of transferring one Patriot system to us. I also hope that the voice of the Spanish Parliament will be heard loudly in supporting Ukraine's membership in NATO," Stefanchuk said.
According to him, Ukraine appreciates all the steps that strengthen the defense capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the recent decision to supply missiles for the Patriot system.
The Verkhovna Rada chairman also briefed Francine Armengol about the consequences of Russia’s strikes on Ukrainian cities on July 8.
As reported, in June 2024, Spain handed over to Ukraine the second batch of anti-aircraft missiles for the Patriot air defense system. The delivery also includes a second batch of Leopard battle tanks, various types of ammunition, including 155mm shells, anti-drone systems, optronic surveillance and tracking systems, and remote weapon turrets..
