Diplomat: EU to help rebuild Okhmatdyt
The European Union will help financially in the reconstruction of the Okhmatdyt children's hospital, which was hit by a Russian missile attack the day before.
This was stated by Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Rémi Duflo in a comment to Ukrinform.
"Of course, we will help. Many of our employees already helped yesterday: they immediately came to the place of damage, and brought water and food; Some dismantled the rubble. We will also financially help restore this symbol of Ukrainian medicine, a symbol of how the Ukrainian state treats the most vulnerable segments of its population," the diplomat said.
Duflo said he was shocked by the attack and stressed the need to hold Russia accountable.
"The more things like this we see, the greater our determination to support Ukraine," the diplomat said.
The team of the EU Embassy visited the destroyed hospital building and inspected the damage.
As reported by Ukrinform, on the morning of July 8, Russian troops launched a massive missile strike on Ukraine, killing more than 40 people, including four children. In particular, on July 8, Russia struck at the Kyiv children's hospital Okhmatdyt, where children from all over Ukraine are treated. Two people were killed at this location, and 32 injured people sought medical care. Eight children were hospitalized with injuries.
Many countries have already condemned this crime. The UN Security Council will hold a special meeting on this issue on July 9.
The Security Service of Ukraine has established that the Russian invaders struck the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in Kyiv with a Kh-101 strategic cruise missile.
