Zelensky, Biden meet on margins of NATO summit
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Joe Biden are meeting on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Washington, according to Ukrinform correspondents.
It is expected that the main topic of their negotiations will concern the situation in Ukraine and continued U.S. leadership in international efforts to support the country.
Zelensky repeatedly emphasized before the meeting with Biden that Ukraine expected the U.S. to lift restrictions on the use of Western weapons to strike military targets inside Russia.
Ukrinform reported earlier that during the NATO summit in Washington, Ukraine received assurances that five strategic air defense systems, F-16 fighter jets and other weapons will be delivered to the country in the near future. NATO members also pledged to allocate at least EUR 40 billion in military aid to Ukraine next year as it continues to resist Russian aggression in Europe.
