Zelensky discusses air defense for Ukraine with Meloni

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met in Washington with the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy Giorgia Meloni. The parties discussed Ukraine's needs in air defense.

This was reported by the head of the Ukrainian state on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"In Washington, I met with the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni. I informed her about the situation at the front and the Russian air terror against Ukrainian cities. We discussed the key needs of Ukraine, in particular air defense," the statement said.

The President expressed gratitude for the fact that this year's defense and reconstruction of Ukraine are prioritized by the Italian presidency of the G7.

According to the Office of the President, during the meeting, the leaders discussed the results of the first Peace Summit, as well as preparations for the second Summit and the next Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine, which will be held in Italy in 2025. Particular attention was paid to the results of the NATO Summit in Washington, which became another important step towards Ukraine's future membership in the Alliance.
