Ukrainian Defense Forces hit Russian S-300 system in captured part of Donetsk region - General Staff
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi thanked the units of the Missile Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, struck at the enemy S-300 complex in the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region.
According to Ukrinform, the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.
"I express my gratitude to the soldiers for the successful fulfillment of the combat mission! Tonight at midnight, units of the missile forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, struck at the enemy's S-300 complex in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region. According to intelligence information, the defeat of the enemy's radar station and launchers was confirmed. More detailed information on the consequences of the strike is being clarified," said Syryskyi.
He noted that this is not the first successful joint work of Ukrainian missile specialists and representatives of other components of the Defense Forces against important Russian military targets.
Thus, more than 20 launchers and about 15 radar stations have already been destroyed.
"We continue to systematically destroy the potential of Russian air defense, creating favorable conditions for the successful use of strike aircraft," Syrskyi emphasized.
As reported earlier, the total combat losses of Russian troops in Ukraine from February 24, 2022, to July 16, 2024, amounted to about 561,400 people, including 1,110 people over the past day. In addition, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 8,227 (+13) Russian tanks, 15,862 (+36) armored combat vehicles, 15,368 (+44) artillery systems, 1,119 (+0) MLRS, 892 (+2) air defense systems, 361 (+0) aircraft, and 326 (+0) helicopters, UAVs of operational and tactical level - 12,193 (+45), cruise missiles - 2,398 (+0), ships/boats - 28 (+0), submarines - 1 (+0), vehicles and tankers - 20,680 (+57), special equipment - 2,577 (+8).
