Border guards to create RSUAS units in each combat brigade
A unit of reconnaissance and strike unmanned aerial systems (RSUAS) is to be set up in each border guard combat brigade. The first such unit has been set up in the "Vengeance" brigade.
This was reported by Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, during the United News telethon, Ukrinform reports.
"We are still using various types of unmanned aerial vehicles, both reconnaissance and strike, and they are in each of the units or combat brigades. By establishing the RSUAS rapid response commandant's office, we are primarily strengthening combat units that perform tasks both on the front line and in defence of the border with the aggressor state," said Andriy Demchenko.
He noted that such a commandant's office is being formed and will soon start performing its tasks as part of our Posta brigade, which is currently performing tasks in different areas - Kupyansk, Bakhmut and Siverske.
"In the future, such units will be formed in other combat brigades, such as the Steel Frontier, Gart, and most likely this will extend to border guard units defending the border with the aggressor country," the SBGS spokesman said.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the commandant's office of the "Revenge" offensive guard brigade's reconnaissance and strike unmanned aerial systems will use a wide range of different aircraft and copter-type drones: FPV, night bombers, light reconnaissance UAVs. The backbone of the first RSUAS border commandant will be soldiers and commanders with successful practical experience with UAVs.
