Zelensky on F-16s for Ukraine: We have positive decision from Polish government
There is a positive decision from the Polish government on a specific issue that will allow Ukraine to receive F-16 fighter jets as soon as possible.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in a post on X, Ukrinform reports.
"Yesterday, I met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk at the European Political Community summit in the United Kingdom to discuss strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities. And today, we have a positive decision from the Polish government on a specific issue, which will allow Ukraine to receive F-16 jets sooner," he wrote.
Zelensky thanked Tusk for efficiently following up on "previous agreements." He also expressed gratitude to Poland for its strong support for Ukraine.
Ukraine and Poland signed a security cooperation agreement on July 8. The document envisages the development of a mechanism for Poland to shoot down in Ukraine's airspace Russian missiles and drones launched in the direction of Poland.
