Another Finnish volunteer soldier killed in action in Ukraine
The fourth Finnish volunteer soldier was killed in action in the war in Ukraine.
This was reported by Yle with reference to the association “Sodan kokeneet ry”.
According to the association, the Finn died in mid-July north of Donetsk. The Finnish authorities have confirmed the information. The family of the deceased soldier has been notified. The director of the association, Juha Kreus, said that the association is cooperating with the Finnish and Ukrainian authorities.
On its Facebook page, the association says it helps volunteers fighting in Ukraine and their families.
According to media reports, three Finns who fought on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were killed in Ukraine earlier.
In February, Jussi Tanner, the head of the consular service at the Finnish Foreign Ministry, told Yle that about 20-30 Finns were fighting on the side of Ukraine.
As Ukrinform reported, a Georgian fighter, Bondo Gagnidze, was killed in the war in Ukraine. He sustained a fatal bullet wound during a massive attack by Russian troops in the Luhansk region.
