Russians have gathered 300 boats to cross Dnipro River - RMA says attack on Kherson possible

The Russian army is planning to launch another offensive on Kherson and has already gathered 300 boats to cross the Dnipro River.

According to Ukrinform, the head of the Kherson regional state administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, told the Financial Times in an interview.

“Russia wants to launch another offensive here,” he said, adding that the Russian army had gathered ”300 boats to cross the river [Dnipro].”

Prokudin also said that since mid-July, Russians have attacked Kherson and neighboring villages along the western bank of the Dnipro River with small drones more than 9,500 times, killing at least 37 people and injuring hundreds more.

At the same time, Serhiy Bratchuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army “South,” said that Russian troops are trying to seize river islands and move closer to the western bank of Kherson. They recently launched a large-scale attack on Kozatsky Island, northeast of the city, near Nova Kakhovka.

The FT suggests that a new offensive on Kherson would be “an even bigger prize” against the backdrop of Russian advances in Donetsk region, as the city was the first regional center to be captured by the occupiers after the start of the full-scale invasion.

As Ukrinform reported, the liberation of Kherson took place on November 11, 2022. In addition to Kherson, other districts of the Kherson region and part of the Mykolaiv region on the right bank of the Dnipro were liberated.
