Situation on Ukraine-Belarus border explained by military
The situation on Ukraine's border with Belarus remains stable, with a decrease in Belarusian informational provocations.
Andrii Demchenko, Spokesperson for Ukraine's State Border Guard Service, said this during a television broadcast, Ukrinform reports.
"We have not observed any unusual developments along the border that could directly impact our security for an extended period. Moreover, even the informational provocations frequently carried out by Belarus have somewhat diminished. Nonetheless, this direction remains a source of potential threat to us," Demchenko stated.
He noted that border areas continue to be strengthened with fortifications, emphasizing the need for Ukraine to maintain strong defensive positions and readiness to repel any attacks.
"Currently, Russia does not have sufficient forces or equipment in Belarus to pose a significant threat to us. However, since Belarus continues to support Russia, this region remains critical and potentially dangerous," the spokesperson added.
Demchenko stressed that the situation is being closely monitored by intelligence units, as it remains subject to change.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, on December 6, following the signing of a security guarantee agreement for the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Minsk, Alexander Lukashenko requested Vladimir Putin to deploy new weapons systems in Belarus, including the Oreshnik system.
