Drone attacks reported in several regions of Russia
Russian authorities have reported drone attacks across multiple regions during the night of Sunday, December 8.
This was reported by the Telegram channel Astra, as relayed by Ukrinform.
The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that a total of 46 drones were involved, asserting that all were intercepted. According to their report 17 drones were detected over Belgorod region, 12 over Kursk, six over Voronezh, seven over Rostov, and four over Astrakhan regions.
Local residents reported explosions in Taganrog. Acting Governor of Rostov region, Yuriy Slyusar, did not comment on the blasts in Taganrog but stated that "two drones were shot down in the area of Novoshakhtinsk," and that one crash caused "broken windows in shops." He added that there were no injuries or fires reported.
The VChK-OGPU Telegram channel reported that "around midnight, residents heard six powerful explosions over Taganrog." This was preceded by sounds consistent with drones in the area.
Later reports mentioned a "missile attack" on Kursk and Kurchatov in Kursk region, where residents described hearing loud explosions. Air raid sirens sounded in Kursk, and air defense systems were reportedly activated.
Andrii Kovalenko, Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, wrote on Telegram overnight: "Kursk and Kursk region, Taganrog are under attack."
As reported by Ukrinform, on the night of November 24, Russian officials claimed an attack involving 34 drones and two missiles across four regions.
