Pokrovsk sector most challenging on Eastern Front – military spox

There have been 169 combat engagements on the Eastern Front, with the heaviest concentration of attacks in the Pokrovsk sector, where 40 assaults have been recorded.

This was reported by Lieutenant Colonel Nazar Voloshyn, Spokesperson for the Khortytsia Operational Strategic Group of Troops, according to Ukrinform, citing ArmyInform.

According to Voloshyn, the situation remains consistently difficult in Chasiv Yar, where two assault attempts were repelled.

"On the outskirts of Chasiv Yar and in the town itself, the enemy, particularly the Russian 98th Airborne Division, has been attempting assault operations for nearly a year. Our defenders have already defeated them twice. However, they have since replenished their personnel and equipment," Voloshyn explained.

The tactics of the Russian paratroopers remain unchanged, added Lieutenant Colonel Voloshyn. They attempt to cross the Siverskyi Donets-Donbas canal, gather in ruined buildings and basements, and then launch attacks.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, the total combat losses of Russian forces in Ukraine from February 24, 2022, to December 12, 2024, amount to approximately 758,730 personnel, with 1,390 losses recorded in the past 24 hours.
