President meets with soldiers from brigade defending Zaporizhzhia region

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has met with soldiers from the 65th Mechanized Brigade defending the Zaporizhzhia region.

The head of state announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"I met with the warriors of the 65th Separate Mechanized Brigade, which is defending Zaporizhzhia. A meaningful and sincere conversation with the Brigade Commander, battalion and company commanders, our warriors who fully understand their tasks and what is required for effective defense. One of the key topics we discussed was improving the training of mobilized personnel. The possibility of conducting basic general military training directly within the brigades," Zelensky said.

He thanked the fighters of the brigade and all the warriors for defending Ukraine, holding back the enemy and protecting their homeland.

According to the president's website, Zelensky presented the soldiers with state awards. Four defenders received the Cross of Military Merit, including Lieutenant Nazar Hrek, Senior Sergeant Anatolii Demchuk, Captain Denys Nezhyvyi and Chief Sergeant Andrii Mereshko.

The president also honored the defenders with the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi of the 1st and 3rd degrees and the medal "For a Saved Life."
