Russians concentrate forces near Sumy region border – Defense Forces

In the area of responsibility of the Siversk Operational Tactical Grouping (OTG), the situation remains under the control of Ukraine's Defense Forces, but the highest concentration of enemy troops is observed near Sumy region.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported during a television broadcast by Colonel Vadym Mysnyk, Spokesperson for the Siversk OTG.

"The Defense Forces of Ukraine in our area of responsibility – Chernihiv, Sumy, and part of Kharkiv regions – maintain full control. However, the intensity of enemy shelling along the entire border is high, with the greatest pressure on Sumy. In the communities of Sumy district, the enemy uses guided aerial bombs daily, wiping our settlements off the face of the earth. Over the past day, we recorded shelling of 54 settlements, 40 of which were in Sumy region," Mysnyk stated.

He specified that the enemy primarily uses FPV drones of various systems, UAV-dropped munitions, strike drones, and guided aerial bombs. Use of artillery has decreased significantly.

Commenting on the enemy’s use of sabotage and reconnaissance groups (SRGs), Mysnyk noted that the largest concentration of Russian forces is near Sumy.

"The highest enemy concentration is near Sumy region. In addition to SRGs, they deploy small infantry groups to test our defenses and, if possible, attempt to advance toward settlements. However, our forces detect them in time. Our task is to inflict maximum damage on the enemy, which we are successfully accomplishing," the Spokesperson emphasized.

Mysnyk added that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are closely monitoring the presence and movement of enemy formations along the border.

"We are meticulously observing the presence and movements of enemy military formations along the border. At the moment, we see no signs of the formation of a large strike group," he said, adding that the Defense Forces are prepared for various developments at the front.

He also highlighted that the enemy is actively using all types of drones in the border area. However, Ukraine’s Defense Forces have sufficient resources to counter them:

"We currently have enough resources to resist them. However, the enemy is also building up its capabilities. Right now, the real battle is for air superiority."

As Ukrinform reported, Russian troops are trying to advance further into Zaporizhzhia region, aiming even to reach its administrative borders.
