SBU seizes smugglers‘ plane near Polish border
The State Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has confiscated the AN-2 aircraft in Volyn, which the smugglers used to deliver goods over Poland, the press center of the SBU has reported.
"Law enforcement officers together with the border guards located an aircraft in a field near the village of Kashivka, Kovel district. The SBU officers found the maps and documents containing information on flight corridors through the border, takeoff and landing coordinates and places for unloading goods while inspecting the cockpit.
According to current data, the smugglers flew amber, cigarettes and weapons to Europe. The organizers and participants of illegal traffic are being identified by the police," the report noted.
A criminal case has been opened. A pre-trial investigation is under way.
