National Police develops bill on integrated security monitoring systems

The National Police has developed a draft law aimed at creating integrated security monitoring systems.

Head of the National Police, Ihor Klymenko, stated this at a meeting dedicated to the results of the National Police activities in 2019, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The National Police has developed a draft law of Ukraine on amendments to a number of laws, including ‘On the Local Self-Government’, ‘On the National Police’ and ‘On the National Security’, in order to obtain the legislative basis for establishing integrated security monitoring systems," Klymenko said.

At the same time, he did not provide any other details about the document.

Klymenko added the system of video surveillance and video analytics helped to improve the response to reports about crimes and detect offences.

He informed that last year the number of video surveillance cameras increased from 11,000 to 24,000, of which almost 16,000 transmit images to situation centers.

In Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, Odesa, Chernivtsi regions and the city of Kyiv, video analytics helps to reveal up to 30 percent of crimes, Klymenko said.
