Law enforcers complete investigation into fraud at Ukrspyrt

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) have completed a pre-trial investigation into a criminal scheme of fuel purchases at inflated prices exposed at the state-owned enterprise Ukrspyrt.

According to Ukrinform, the SAPO reports this.

"On August 17, 2023, the SAPO and the NABU completed a pre-trial investigation and opened criminal proceedings against 7 participants in a criminal scheme to sell fuel used to produce alcohol at Ukrspyrt at inflated prices. As a result, the state-owned enterprise suffered over UAH 55 million losses," the statement said.

The SAPO reminded that in May of this year, three officials of Ukrspyrt, two entrepreneurs and two accountants of private companies were served with a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Ukrspyrt officials colluded with representatives of private business entities and purchased boiler coke fuel at inflated prices for a reward.
