NABU exposes current, former heads of regional commercial court over million-dollar bribe
Detectives with the National Anti-corruption Bureau exposed the current and former heads of the Lviv region's commercial court in receiving a bribe of $1 million.
This was reported by the press service of the National Anti-corruption Bureau, Ukrinform reports.
The Special Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office said charges have been pressed against the current and former heads of the commercial court of one of the regions, who were exposed in extorting $1 million in illegal benefits from a representative of a private firm," the report says.
During the investigation, law enforcers learned that the two suspects promised the entrepreneur to ensure the adoption of the necessary rulings in court cases that were being heard in one of the appellate commercial courts.
NABU detectives and SAPO prosecutors documented the transfer of part of the bribe in the amount of $75,000.
“The pre-trial inquiry is underway. Based on its results, a decision will be made to provide a legal assessment of the actions of all those believed to be involved in the illegal activity,” the SAPO added.
