Night in ATO: 71 attacks on Ukrainian positions

The situation in the anti-terrorist area (ATO) in eastern Ukraine remains tense, Russian-backed militants 71 times opened fire on the positions of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, the ATO press center reports.

The Russian-separatist forces used mortars to shell the Ukrainian footholds in Krasnohorivka, Pisky, Talakivka, Mayorsk. Moreover, in Zaitseve and Krasnohorivka the militants used 120 mm mortars.

The Russian-backed soldiers also fired grenade launchers and small arms on the Ukrainian positions in Novotroitske, Maryinka, Avdiivka, Novhorodske, Opytne, Pisky and the Butovka mine.

The militants shelled the ATO positions in Luhansk direction using machine guns and antitank missile system, while in Mariupol direction, near the village of Hnutove, they used mortars and small arms.

The situation was tense also near the village of Shyrokyno.  Here and in some other parts Ukrainian troops were forced to open return fire against Russian-banked militants.
