Turchynov: New weapons of Ukrainian production tested at Honcharivske proving ground
Complex tests of ammunition and new weapons of Ukrainian production took place at Honcharivske proving ground in Chernihiv region.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov stated this after the tests were completed, the NSDC’s press service reported on July 26.
According to him, under NSDC’s decision, Ukraine launched the production of ammunition that had not been previously manufactured in the state.
“An important phase of testing the scarcest 152-mm projectiles, as well as 60-mm mines for new Ukrainian mortars was completed,” said Turchynov and added that two modifications of the new 60-mm and 82-mm mortars were also tested and “safety performance during the fire with 120 mm mortars” was checked.
In addition, Turchynov said that during the tests all ballistic characteristics were checked by a modern unique complex - a mobile radar system of trajectory measurements.
He noted that ammunition and artillery weapons tested were produced by both state and private enterprises, which allows improving quality and reduce costs within a transparent competition.
“All the tests were completed with an excellent mark. Ukrainian weapons and ammunition showed compliance with the given characteristics and will be soon taken on armament by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will considerably raise the firepower of our army,” Turchynov summarized.
