US assists Ukraine in increasing its cyber defense level

Ukraine has received the assistance to improve its cyber defense level within the framework of the USAI ITI agreement.

“To date, we have already received the assistance from the U.S. government to improve the cyber defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine within the framework of the USAI ITI agreement. Right now, the works are underway to install equipment and software in the Cyber ​​Incident Rapid Response Center,” Volodymyr Rapko, chief of the signal troops, chief of the Main Directorate for Communications and Information Systems of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said in an interview with the Defense Ministry’s magazine “Telecom. Military communications” (October 2018).

In addition, he informed that a project had been developed in cooperation with Estonian colleagues to create a cyber laboratory at one of the military units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. “This project has been approved by majority of the NATO countries, and we are currently holding talks on funding of this project,” the chief of the signal troops said.

As noted, Ukraine actively cooperates with the international partners in the field of development of information protection systems and cyber defense in the information and telecommunication systems of the Defense Ministry and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Five projects on the development of cyber defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were submitted to the NATO Headquarters for their introduction within the NATO-Ukraine Cyber Defense Trust Fund. Currently, these projects are under consideration.
