National Security and Defense Council: State defense order grows by 16 percent

The state defense order has grown by 16 percent compared to last year.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Danilov said that the report of Colonel General of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak on the events that took place in Donbas this morning was heard at the Council’s meeting.

“The issue of coronavirus and the readiness of our systems to accommodate our airplane were discussed. The next question was the approval of the national security strategy of Ukraine. The fourth question was the approval of decision on the main indicators of the state defense order for 2020, 2021 and 2022. The only thing I can say is that the state defense order has grown by 16 percent compared to last year and we expect to spend more than one billion dollars on the order this year,” said at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The NSDC Secretary denied the allegation that the new defense order puts an end to Ukrainian missile development programs.

"We clearly understand that our missile shield must be strong and everything related to missile development programs will be funded in accordance with all our regulations adopted earlier," Danilov assured.
