Ukraine reports 14 ceasefire violations by Russian-backed forces on Sep 24
Russian-led forces violated the ceasefire in the Joint Forces Operation area in eastern Ukraine 14 times on September 24, using weapons proscribed by the Minsk agreements, the JFO headquarters has reported on Facebook.
"The intensity of hostilities on the line of contact, compared with the previous 24 hours [on September 23], has increased significantly. The armed formations of the Russian Federation violated the ceasefire 14 times, twice using weapons proscribed by the Minsk agreements," the report reads.
In the direction of Novoluhanskу, Russian mercenaries fired at Ukrainian positions twice, using anti-tank grenade launchers and 82mm and 120mm mortars.
For the second time, 120mm mortars were used near Verkhniotoretske, with 17 shells fired.
"Near Svitlodarsk, the enemy fired at Ukrainian positions from anti-tank grenade launchers. In the direction of Lebedynske and Novozvanivka, the enemy fired numerous from grenade launchers of various systems, large-caliber machine guns and small arms," the Ukrainian military said.
Russian-backed forces also used grenade launchers of various systems, large-caliber machine guns and small arms on the outskirts of Vodiane and violated the ceasefire four times near Zolote-4.
Near the villages of Vodiane and Shyrokyne, Russian occupation forces used two enemy UAVs that dropped VOG-17 grenades, and remotely mined an area near the village of New York with POM-2 anti-personnel mines.
Ukrainian military returned fire using weapons permitted by the Minsk agreements. No casualties among Ukrainian soldiers were reported.
