Lviv Armoгed Fighting Vehicle Plant restores armored hauling vehicles

Lviv Armored Fighting Vehicle Plant SE, which is a part of the Ukroboronprom defense giant, has restored more than ten BTS-4 armored medium hauling vehicles, improving their tactical and technical features as per defense ministry's order.

The first batch of repaired hardware has already been handed to Ukrainian troops, while the second consignment is pending shipment, Ukroroboronprom's press service reports.

The T-80 tank’s driving wheels and standardized chain tracks from the same model were installed on some of the updated units.

The renovated units “have successfully passed routine tests and proved their effectiveness,” says the plant’s CEO, Viktor Androshchuk.

“I would like to emphasize that this makes allows installing standardized T-80 chain tracks on T-72, T-55 (54) tanks, and all types of special and engineering military hardware based on these machines in future orders."

BTS-4 is equipped with a hydraulic-driven crane manipulator with a capacity of up to 12 tonnes, electric welding equipment, traction and additional winches. This allows performing a full list of scheduled maintenance works and intermediate overhaul of armored vehicles in field conditions. To clear the roads and equip army positions, the hauling unit has modern bulldozer equipment installed.

In terms of tactical and technical features, the restored unit is on a par with BREM-1 armored repair and recovery vehicle. At the same time, the upgrading works have turned out to be far less costly.
