Russian mercenaries violated ceasefire 42 times last week – Ukrainian Defense Ministry
Russian occupation forces committed 42 ceasefire violations in the area of the Joint Forces Operation in eastern Ukraine from November 22 to November 28, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's press service has reported.
"The enemy, provoking the response of Ukrainian soldiers, opened fire almost along the entire line of contact. The number of ceasefire violations by Russian occupation forces amounted to 42 cases," the report reads.
In total, the enemy fired weapons proscribed by the Minsk agreements on 15 instances.
For comparison, the press service said, 58 ceasefire violations were recorded in the previous week, from November 15 to November 21.
In response to the enemy's shelling, the Ukrainian military returned fire 29 times, without using weapons banned by the Minsk agreements. Russian-backed forces were forced to cease fire.
The press service also reported that near Zolote-4, the enemy remotely delivered POM-2 anti-personnel mines.
Unfortunately, one serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was killed and three others were wounded last week. The soldiers were promptly taken to medical facilities, where they are undergoing treatment.
