Maasikas, Reznikov discuss priority areas of cooperation
At a meeting with Head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine Matti Maasikas, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov welcomed the decision taken the day before at a meeting of the EU Council to allocate EUR 31 million to Ukraine under the European Peace Facility, Ukrinform reports, referring to the Defense Ministry’s press service.
"This assistance will strengthen the overall resilience of Ukraine and help strengthen the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, taking into account the possibility of extending their activities to the civilian population in crisis or emergency situations. In particular, it is about strengthening the capacity in the field of healthcare (including support for field hospitals), cybersecurity, as well as engineering, mobile and logistics capabilities,” reads the report.
Reznikov thanked for the European Union for the assistance in implementing the defense reform.
It is noted that the parties also discussed priority areas of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU.
Maasikas assured the Ukrainian defense minister of support for Ukraine’s accession to the EU-led international peacekeeping operation Althea in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Ukraine's involvement in the projects of the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) in the area of security and defense sector.
